I am so sorry to hear about your tragic accident. It is unforgiveable! You were at the prime of your life and to have it taken away like that breaks my heart. I, too, lost my 16 year old last year (March 26, 2008) and I know what your parents are going through. You will NEVER be forgotten and you will be with your family again! I hope you can somehow show your family signs that you are OK and help them get through this grief. I hope you meet my daughter, Jessica, up in heaven. She will be the "spunky" one who eats all the time! My prayers will be with your family.
I would like to thank all of the people who have taken the time to post a message here. It means a lot to us. We all miss Rachel so much and reading these messages does help. We will never have her back, but hopefully by people reading her tragic story it can help prevent other meaningless losses of life. Since Rachel was murdered just over a year ago the US has lost another 20,000 lives for the sake of someone wanted to get drunk and then drive. This is unbelievable. ~Lando
I am so sorry that you are on of the many that had to receive the tragic consequence of drunk driving! I stumbled upon your site while doing a research paper on why you shouldn't drink and drive! Your story is incredible that you had this good life and how you even were involved in groups against drinking and driving....then this had to happen to you! I never met you...I don't know your family...but I know you were a beautiful girl who now will never get a chance to live out her life...have a family...whatever you wanted...you'll never know... I am praying for your loved ones as I'm sure you are missed every second of every day! God Bless Elliot Family
Im sorry that had happen 2 you. And the reason why im on this page is because i am doing a project on Drunk Drivers and how Teens are Drinking at a early age in there life. Also how what it can do to other teens as i death or just being really hurt badly from it. And again im sorry someone had did that to her and at such a young age.
I am so sorry to know this happened to you! MY cousin was in a severe car accident 2 years ago where the driver was drunk-thankfully she survived! I am praying for your family! I don't even know you but I saw this and my heart went out to you and all those who love you! God Bless
Rachel, Its such a beautiful day out today!!! I got the kindest email from your Mom last night. I know I haven't been on here as much as I used to be, but don't think that means I don't think about you everyday, cause I do. This just doesn't get any easier. I know you and Vanessa are up there riding horses and trying to keep track of all your loved down here. LOL Thats probably a big task, but you guys can do it!! 🙂 Did you believe it, that your Mom got a tattoo?? I think that is great. Everyone misses you, and when your Aunt has her baby there are going to be sooo many wonderful stories and memories to share wit your new little cousin, you may be gone but you will NEVER be forgotten!!! You will just have a new little one to watch over!! Keep Smilin down on everyone that loves you!!! 🙂
I am so deeply sorry. Prayerfully yours, Melissa Shaffer (a friend of Leigh Ann's)
Your daughter was sent here to deliver a message, I can see it in her eyes. She is a beautiful spirit that had a mission to accomplish. She looks very much like me when I was her age. Any French decent? or American Indian? I work with Debbie Premis, at Glen Ivy, I unfortunately worked with the "negative soul" that killed your daughter. It breaks my heart to know that I worked with this person every day. She even got drunk at Hotel Paseo off of the 91 freeway after the event and talked about how she had killed someone and was getting drunk before she went to jail, (this is all second hand) I was not there, thank God. This girl Elva has a BIG lesson to learn in her life and your daughter is there to help ALL those with that lesson. You are blessed to have had Rachel in your life and listen to your dreams, she will contact you thru them, she is happy and beautiful and wants you to be as well, Love to your family, my best, and in my prayers, Rhonda
She was very beautiful on the outside and seems to have been an amazing person on the inside as well. I would like to bring the Every 15 minutes program here to Central Oregon. I don't believe there's an anti-drunk driving program here and there's no SADD clubs at the OSU campus. I see alot of young people buying alcoholic beverages for minors at the store where I work or at least trying to buy alcohol. If I watch the kids trying to get alcohol, they get discouraged and go somewhere else to get it. I used to be more involved with SADD when I was in high school but now, I am becoming more involved with MADD because I am still seeing or reading about drunk drivers or someone killed by this heinous crime. I've already written to my legislator and governor but more needs to be done. Oregon doesn't have DUI checkpoints.
I just wanted to stop by cause I'm thinking about you, not a day goes by that I don't. Please just keep smiling down on us down here, you are so greatly missed 🙂
i just wanted the family of rachel to know that i am a leader in a group called TAMA (Teens Against the Misuse of Alcohol) at my middle school and we have used rachel's story to educate our peers on drunk driving. Hers was one of the few that got students speak out and a few have any promised to never drive drunk. i am also using this in a school essay to explain why the u.s. should have a federal drunk driving law with a BAC of 0.08 or lower. thank-you so much to the creators of this page and the family of rachel. She did not die in vain. -APL

I am so sorry for your loss and know that Rachel must have been sunshine to you. I remember, mourn and celebrate my Dad on Feb 21st - his birthday - and now I will think of Rachel, too. I know others whose lives have been changed forever by drunk drivers and will tell them about your blog. Thanks for sharing this journey with others - out of your pain will come comfort for others.
I am doing a project in school on drunk drivers and the legal age to drink. i hope during this i am able to tell people how dangerous it really it and prevent someone from doing wrong. I am truly sorry about your beautiful daughter. May she rest and peace and bring peace to your family.
To Rachel's family- I am so sorry about the loss of your beautiful, precious daughter. My mother and baby sister were tragically killed by a drunk driver when I was three. I thank God for every moment to share how He has encouraged us to share our painful story and help another life. Thank you all for doing just that on this website. May God continue to shower you with His strength and goodness.
Rachel You are on our hearts and minds constantly today, as always. You are missed and loved by so many. I am forever grateful that I was the one who got to be your Daddy. I wish I could tell you how proud you always made me and how very blessed I have been to have you in my life.
For Rachel's family and friends: I wanted to come today and express my deepest sorrow that you are marking today as one year since your precious girl was stolen from you. My son Christopher was murdered by a drunk driver fleeing the police on November 8, 2007. He was 17 years old. I know this will be a very hard day for you, and I wanted to let you know that I thought of Rachel all day, and of you. My prayers are with you to find the strength to continue to bear this immeasurable loss of Rachel. I know she shines down from Heaven, surrounded by perpetual light and beauty. I wish you peace, and I wish justice for Rachel. In Love, Cheryl Cooper
I am so sorry to hear about what happened to Rachel. I have a sister who was also born in 1989 and is attending college far from home. Reading about Rachel deeply affects me because I know something like that could happen to my sister. I'm very grateful to this site for spreading the word and preventing more drunk driving deaths. God Bless.
