I am doing a presentation in my English class on the effects of drinking & driving and came across this website. Rachel's story is like many who are instantly taken without notice because of a drunk driver. I am terribly sorry for your loss. I can't wait to tell my peers her story. I will keep your family in my prayers.

We are students that were looking for a story to show our peers for a documentary film to show our class. Your story truly touched us and a few of us cried. We are all truly sorry for your loss. We hope that in the new future, stories like these will never need to be told because they never happen.

I would like to thank you for giving me permission to freely use the information on this website. I am writing a persuasive speech for my college class over drinking and driving and I googled, "drunk driving stories", and this was one of the first ones that popped up. I'm 21 years old and thankfully have never encountered a drunk driver and hopefully never will. She was a beautiful young woman, and I hope that she is smiling down on me right now as I right this and will be watching over me tomorrow when I conduct my speech. God bless to this family and to all the other families affected by this tragedy. In Jesus name, you will all be healed of your scars of which you still bear. Amen. -Nick

Bradley, I agree with you. To put a gag order on a website in honor of a beautiful girl that loved Jesus, her parents, her brother and extended family and friends. Someone who was trying to save the lives of people she would never know through the Every 15 minutes program. A gag order is an insult.

I read the article in the P E, Its so hard to loose a child. I hope you and your family gets justice in this case. Your daughter looked like a beatuiful young lady. This web site is great it keeps Rachel memory alive.

Your daughter was very beautiful. My condolences on your loss; I cannot imagine the pain. My little grandson's other grandma was murdered by a 37 y.o. Mexican drunk - he got 25-life. Thank god - he had priors.

I am a Mother of two college aged daughters, both living away from home. It is so scary to think that others are so irresponsible and careless to drink and drive and to kill and risk serious injury to others. I have absolutely no sympathy for Ms. Diaz and her guilt is assured. She left this county as others have tried to do after committing crimes in hopes of eluding prosecution. I wish she was brought up on more serious charges than manslaughter and I hope she never sees the outside of a jail cell again. Sorry if I don't show any compassion for Ms. Diaz, but this was a sweet, innocent young lady with goals and dreams and anyone today that drinks and drives after all the literature and media attention that has been brought to his serious crime should pay an extremely high price...

Just read the article in today's PE.com re: the case against Elva Diaz and her not guilty plea. It sickens me to think that they are trying to get a gag order put on this web page because of the influence on a prospective jury pool. Seems our system needs a little influence if we are concerned about this woman's rights after killing someone (allegedly ??) and then sprinting to Mexico. Keep the pressure on!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with Rachel and your family. May God continue to watch over your family!

Dear Jill, Steve and Erik (Lando too).....We read the article in the Press Enterprise yesterday and was watching Oprah today and the following statement was said on her show, it just made us think of you all and we wanted to pass it along "One day the music will return to your lives!". It's just such a beautiful sentiment and our sincerest wish for you! Sending our best in the days ahead, to not only the four of you, but to each and every member of your family!

I just read your story in the PE.com. My thoughts and prayers are with you. We live in Corona and I have a 17 and 18 yr old whom drive and it scares me so much when they are just 5 min late to come home. I cant imagine hearing a knock on the door and recieving such horrible news and it could have been prevented if the person was smart enough to call a taxi or to get a ride from someone whom was sober. I was driving home from work from LAX to Corona on the 91 / 57 fwy area approx 1am a few months ago and a mercedes was coming head on toward me. I was in the fast lane and this car in the carpool lane driving approx 100 mph. I couldnt believe me eyes. Driving the wrong way on the freeway!!!!! I shook the rest of the way home and could not sleep. I woke up in the morning and read he had killed 2 young people that were in the carpool lane within seconds after I saw him. Every night I drive home from work now when I get to that spot I get a sick feeling. It haunts me daily. I know that the driver lived through the nightmare also. Hopfully he will be going away for a very long time for the fear he brought to others on the freeway that night and for killing two innocent people. I wish you the best . I will be praying for your family.

I am very sorry to hear about your loss. We all know drunk driving is bad but it still happens and the innocent are the ones who suffer. This website allows Rachel to keep touching people the same way she did when she was with you 🙂

I am very sorry for your loss. It is so tragic to lose a beautiful young person when they have their whole lives ahead of them. I too have lost. My 15 year old son Kyle was killed in Aug. of 2008 by a drunk driver while riding his bicycle. My heart goes out to you and your family. The pain can be and is unbearable at times. I came across your website looking for information about drunk driving. Our towns high school senior prom is coming up and they asked me to speak about drinking and driving. I found alot of good information on this site and will share some of it with the kids there. My prayers are with you. God Bless, Pam

I thought it was so weird tht when i looked up my name in Google, that your case came up and i think that even though our names are the same we still think that drunk driving is a bad thing. You will be missed.. (:
